Political Statement
To: The Honourable government of Denmark
With utmost respect,
We, a collective of Iranian citizens from diverse national backgrounds -
including Kurds, Turks, Baloch, Arabs, Lors, Turkmen, Caspians, and other
ethnic and national communities, hereby express our deep concern regarding
the ongoing or upcoming negotiations between the United States of America
and the Islamic Republic of Iran, which are reportedly to be held on Europa
soil.
The majority of Iran’s population consists of peoples with national, cultural,
and linguistic identities distinct from the Persian identity. Despite sustained
efforts to preserve their existence and legitimate rights, these communities have
been subjected to decades of highly centralized and authoritarian policies by
the Iranian central government, particularly since the aftermath of the First
World War.
At this critical juncture, when the future of Iran and the stability of the region
may be profoundly shaped by the outcomes of these talks, we wish to
emphasize that the fate of the peoples and nations residing in Iran cannot and
must not be excluded from the international decision-making process. Their

active involvement is essential for building a just and sustainable future for the
country.
The core principles that underpin modern European societies; democracy,
human rights, equality, pluralism, and respect for human dignity, should
equally apply to the multi-ethnic and multicultural population of Iran. Our
people also hold dear the same values of liberty and human dignity that you so
deeply honour. In an increasingly interconnected global society, these rights
must be regarded not as privileges, but as universal entitlements of all
humankind.
The international community is fully aware of the systematic and widespread
violations of human rights in the Islamic Republic of Iran, extensively
documented by independent international bodies and reflected in free global
media outlets.
In light of this, we respectfully urge the international community to officially
recognize and guarantee the following rights:
Full respect for fundamental human rights and civil and collective
liberties
Freedom of religion, belief, and expression
Gender equality and the dismantling of systemic discrimination
Official recognition of Iran as a multi-ethnic state
Guarantee of the right to education in one’s mother tongue, in
accordance with international human rights conventions
The children of Iran, whether Kurdish, Arab, Baloch, Turk, Lor, or members of
other historic nations, must be granted the right to be educated in their native
languages within their respective historical and geographic regions. This is a
well-established and universally accepted right under international human
rights law.
Should the Islamic Republic persist in denying the legitimate rights of these
oppressed national ethnicities, and if the international community chooses to
overlook the just demands of these peoples in pursuit of appeasement with an
extremist regime, the inevitable result will be an intensification of forced
migration and asylum-seeking toward European countries.
Furthermore, the destabilizing actions of the Islamic Republic, particularly
those carried out by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), have
extended beyond Iran’s borders and endangered regional stability. The IRGC’s
military support for the Assad regime in Syria has been a central factor
in fuelling the refugee crisis impacting Europe. In recent years, the Iranian
URU, Alm.del - 2024-25 - Bilag 263: Henvendelse af 21/7-25 fra Congress of Nationalities for a Federal Iran om minoriteter i Iran
regime has also provided drones and weapons to Russia, directly contributing
to attacks on Ukraine. Given that a substantial portion of Iran’s economy is
under the IRGC’s control, any policy of engagement or financial facilitation in
effect strengthens an institution that poses a clear threat to European and allied
security interests.
In view of these realities, we respectfully urge the honourable government of
Denmark, to consider and convey the following points to the American
delegation:
1.
An end to the policy of appeasement toward the Islamic Republic of Iran, a
strategy that disregards the dignity of Iran’s diverse national
communities and runs counter to the long-term strategic interests of Europe,
the United States, and the international community at large.
2.
The initiation of inclusive dialogue with the full spectrum of the Iranian
opposition, particularly national and ethnic movements, with the aim of
establishing a democratic, free, and pluralistic future for Iran.
3.
The implementation of targeted international pressure on the Islamic
Republic, including the designation of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard
Corps as a terrorist organization by the European Union and other relevant
international institutions.
We firmly believe that lasting peace and stability in Iran, and by extension in
the Middle East and Europe, will only be possible when the legitimate human
rights of all nations and communities within Iran are recognized and
guaranteed. Any international agreement that fails to acknowledge this
foundational historical reality of Iran, will only serve to reinforce
authoritarianism and deepen injustice in Iran, and the region.
We sincerely thank you for your attention and for your continued commitment
to the principles of justice, democracy, and human dignity.
Best regards,
