Information and Invitation from the European Public Prosecutor Office
Dear Committee Secretaries,
I am writing from the European Public Prosecutor Office, where I am Counsellor for
interinstitutional relations to the European Chief Prosecutor.
The EPPO is a transnational prosecution office, competent on investigating and prosecuting EU
expenditure (funds, administrative expenses) and revenue (customs duties, antidumping duties,
VAT). Denmark is not part of the EPPO because of the opt-out, but EPPO is beneficial to Denmark.
Please see attached a note with more information about this.
On behalf of the European Chief Prosecutor, Mrs Laura Kövesi, we would like to extend an open
invitation for interested Members of the Danish Parliament to visit the EPPO headquarters in
Luxembourg.
Meanwhile, in view of the Danish presidency, we would like to offer an online briefing to interested
Members of Parliament and staff from your committees, at a moment suitable for your
Parliamentary agenda.
As examples of our activity, please see a link to today’s press release regarding a major cross-
border investigation involving customs and VAT fraud with Chinese goods which have also been
sold in Denmark. The damage is calculated at the moment at 700 million EUR, 250 million of which
is in customs and anti-dumping duties:
