Invitation to joint seminar on equality in the Nordic parliaments
Nordic cooperation and dialogue are more relevant than ever in today’s world. The evolving security
situation in Europe has particularly strengthened Nordic collaboration on foreign and security policy.
At the same time, there is a risk that equality issues may receive less attention in political discussions.
Personal meetings are essential for fostering an inspiring exchange of ideas on equality in parliaments
and political representation. The Parliament of Finland will host a joint seminar on gender equality for
Nordic parliaments and autonomous regions on
Wednesday, 17 September 2025.
Similar events were
held in the Swedish Parliament in 2017 and 2021 and in the Norwegian Parliament in 2019.
The Parliament of Finland kindly invites a delegation of two to three members from each of the Nordic
parliaments to this one-day meeting, with the main theme focusing on the impact of social media on
the brain health of Members of Parliament. The program includes a roundtable discussion on
contemporary gender equality issues. At the end of the seminar, representatives from each parliament
will present brief national reports.
Please confirm the names of participants by 30 June 2025 at the latest. Kindly send your response to
Ms. Anne-Helena Ääri-Mikkola, Secretary of the Equality Council, at anne-helena.aari-
[email protected].
You are warmly welcome!
Best regards,
Tarja Filatov
