Explore Decarbonisation Through Gasification – Don’t Miss Berlin 2026!
We are pleased to announce the
13th Annual Gasification Summit,
building on the success of
twelve previous editions that have welcomed hundreds of senior-level participants. The 2026
event will be held on
25th–26th March in Berlin, Germany.
As Europe intensifies its focus on decarbonisation, gasification is emerging as a pivotal
technology—particularly through the use of biomass and municipal waste in alignment with the
European Green Deal. Currently,
around 141 biomass and waste gasification plants
are
operational across Europe, with a further
54 projects under development.
Germany leads this
transition, followed by France, Finland, Italy, and Denmark.
Solid biomass
remains the dominant feedstock, accounting for roughly two-thirds of supply, while
municipal waste gasification
is the fastest-growing segment, expanding at a rate of
12–13%
annually,
propelled by circular economy policies. By 2040, Europe could produce up to
37 billion
cubic metres of biomethane,
potentially cutting
536 million tonnes of CO₂ emissions
and
supplying energy to
100 million households
each year.
Despite this progress, the sector still faces key challenges in areas such as
feedstock availability,
gas cleaning, and scaling technologies.
However, momentum is building, supported by EU
legislation, public–private collaboration, and the growing integration of
green hydrogen
into
gasification systems.
This two-day summit will provide a dynamic platform for
industry leaders, researchers,
policymakers,
and
stakeholders
to share insights, explore solutions, and collaborate towards
meeting the EU’s 2030 and 2050 sustainability goals.
