Att. GRU - BOYCOTT DENMARK INDEFINITELY. Denmark alongside Thisted Municipality has
violated Keira Kronvold's human rights as a member of an Indigenous people in Denmark. Inuit are
protected under ILO Convention no. 169 from 1997, which Denmark has signed, as wel...
To all parties,
Denmark stolen a newborn baby, her name is Zammi, and she was stolen from her mother on
November 7, 2024. Denmark's parenting competency tests are widely known across the world to
be violations of human rights and Indigenous peoples rights, they do not take into account
Greenlandic cultural background, and the people who enforce this process do not do their jobs the
way even their own policy states, and international law states. For example, psychologists
employed by Thisted Municipality have assessed Keira as low-intelligent and lacking parenting
skills, but a Greenlandic interpreter was never called for any of the meetings, investigations or
decisions. As well, Denmark leaves white children with parents who would "fail" similar tests, that
is more proof this is pure racism. I put fail in quotations because these tests should not have to be
taken seriously they are so outrageous, but here we are. These racist psychologists from Thisted
Municipality have discriminated against Keira because of her ethnicity, gender, race, disability, age
and sexual orientation in connection with those parenting competence tests, conducting
psychological tests on her that are not adapted to Greenlanders and without a Greenlandic
interpreter present.
Keira has shared publically this Thisted Municipality statement about her as part of their reason for
forced removal:
"Keira draws on her Greenlandic background, where even small facial expressions have
communicative significance. But since the child will grow up in Denmark, it is estimated that Keira
will have difficulty preparing the child for the social expectations and codes that are necessary to
navigate in Danish society. This challenge is combined with Keira's cognitive difficulties, especially
in relation to linguistic and cognitive stimulation of the child, which can result in her expressing
herself simplistically and impulsively.”
I mean, that is one of the most racist things I have ever read as a reason to remove a child from her
mother. Forced removal of Indigenous children is against international law and is a key factor in
genocide, this is not just unacceptable, it is illegal. Thisted Municipality has violated Keira's human
rights as a member of an Indigenous people in Denmark. Inuit are protected under ILO Convention
no. 169 from 1997, which Denmark has signed, as well as the UN declaration, Article 7, which
GRU, Alm.del - 2024-25 - Bilag 83: Henvendelser om fjernelse af grønlandske børn i Danmark
prohibits member states from committing genocide, including the forced removal of children from
indigenous peoples to other groups.
Newborn baby Zammi is now forced to be apart from her mother within a foster family employed
by the municipality that allegedly are having their parenting skills questioned and now Keira has to
get her lawyer to help her atleast try to save her baby from this one family, but she doesn't belong
in that system at all. Denmark's foster system has a notorious history for placing Inuit children in
abusive and unfit homes. Help Keira keep her baby safe and bring her home.
By accessing your humanity, you will realize that Denmark is wrong and times do need to change,
this was never okay for the centuries Denmark has been committing this crime, it is not okay now,
and it will never be okay. You can help bring baby Zammi home to her mother and biological family,
where she will be safe and be able to preserve her Greenlandic cultural background - like many
well-functioning Greenlandic families with children already do in today's Denmark. Please act now
and end the racist system of forced removal of Greendlandic Inuk children.
Sincerely,
Faith Somers from SK, CA
