Dear NATO parliamentarians,
I write on behalf of the UK delegation to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly to endorse the candidacy
of Congressman Gerry Connolly for President of the Assembly.
Congressman Connolly has been a strong and steadfast ally of NATO and the Assembly for many years.
At a time of considerable change, within the Alliance and in the US itself, we have no doubt that the
Assembly would benefit from his perspective, expertise and experience.
His commitment to the Assembly is well recognised, having served on its Bureau, its Committees and
as head of the US delegation. And his recognition of the enduring importance of NATO’s founding
principles – democracy, individual liberty and the rule of law – is particularly important as the Alliance
seeks to meet the threats from new domains and state actors in the 2020s.
I hope that you too will lend your support to Congressman Connolly’s candidacy, and I look forward
