It wasadopted at the Lisbon Summit in November 2010, promising a renewed Alliance – a ‘NATOVersion 3.0’ ready for new challenges, new partnerships and renewed relevance and impact. Thenew Strategic Concept and its promises and challenges are analyzed in two new DIIS Reports, oneedited by Jens Ringsmose and Sten Rynning, entitledNATO’s New Strategic Concept: AComprehensive Assessment,and the other authored by Trine Flockhart, entitledAfter theStrategic Concept – Towards a NATO Version 3.0.Together, the two publications represent thehitherto most comprehensive analysis of the new Strategic Concept and its implications for NATO’sfuture and for security in the 21st century.
