Annual Sessions1.The Head of the Italian delegation has indicated that due to elections in both the Chamberof Deputies and the Senate in 2013, Italy can no longer host the Annual Session in 2013.2.As the number of participants in Sessions has grown over the last decade, it is even moreimportant that Session preparations are made well in advance.Suitable meeting andaccommodation facilities are usually reserved several years ahead of the meeting. Therefore, host nations for Annual Sessions from 2013 need to be found as soon as possible.Standing Committee Meetings3.There areno hosts nations for Standing Committee meetings from 2014 onwards.
Spring Sessions4.5.Estonia will host the Spring Session in 2012 and Greece in 2013.Host nations need to be found for Spring Sessions from 2014 onwards.
6.The attached tables indicate which nations have hosted sessions or Standing Committeemeetings from 1983 to 2013. Table 1 shows them chronologically, and Table 2 by country. Table 3shows how many years will have elapsedin 2014since each nation last hosted a StandingCommittee. Table 4 shows how many years will have elapsedin 2014since each nation hosted aSession.Joint Committee Meetings, Brussels, February7.In 2008, the leader of the Belgian Delegation, Daniel Bacquelaine, proposed that hisDelegation could in future meet the costs of the February meetings but this would then mean thatthey would be unable to offer to host a session. The then Treasurer of the Assembly,Lothar Ibrügger, felt that this would be a fair arrangement given that the February meetings arelarger than a Standing Committee meeting but smaller than a spring session.8.Consideration should also be given to the fact that Belgium provided facilities for specialStanding Committee meetings in 1999, 2002, and 2006 and for the meeting in 2000 when theoriginal host nation had to withdraw.
