The Constitutional Act also underlines the principle of the majority’s right to take decisions and it obliges the citizens to observe the laws of their country.
Indirectly, the Danish citizens exert their power at general elections by electing the politicians whom they consider best suited to represent their interests in Parliament.
In order to avoid misuse of power, the Constitutional Act comprises the three powers of the state:
It is up to the Prime Minister to decide when to call an election. However, a general election must be called at least every four years. And only if Parliament finds itself in a minority will the Prime Minister be obliged to call an election.
